ASSIGNMENT 1

Media has long been the key contributor to the propagation of new age technology. This being said, there is a lot of modification that has been brought about by the new age technology. Several new ways of utilizing the power of media have come up. Media has undergone tremendous change from the time of radio to internet due to the technological revolution.

Being an avid consumer, I am inquisitive about the co-dependant relation between media and technology. I consider both as growing interdependently. I believe a course work in computers and new media will help me in getting a better understanding of this subject.

Listed below is a broad categorization of the various types of media I use in my everyday life :-
1. MOVIES
    I prefer spending quality time by watching movies falling under following categories :-
              a. Based on Novel
              b. Science Fiction Movies
              c. Television Drama
              d. Family Drama
              e. High-School Drama

2. E-BOOKS
    I invest my mental faculties in gorging on web versions of the novels. I prefer them as they are
    easy to access from anywhere and everywhere. I am specifically interested in the
    following genres:-
              a. Thriller Fiction [ Dan Brown , Agatha Christie , John Grisham , David Seltzer ]
              b. Fantasy [ J.K.Rowling , J.R.R. Tolkien , Jeffery Archer ]

3. E-NEWSPAPER
    I prefer being updated with the news around the world from e-papers rather than the printed
    versions. I mainly follow :-
             a. Times of India
             b. New York Times

4. SECURITY ALERTS
    Any security issue in the university is notified to me through "Code Maroon".

5. WEATHER UPDATES
    Owing to the extremely unpredictable weather of College Station, I always prefer staying updated
    with the weather forecast. It helps me schedule the activities of the day appropriately.

6. YOUTUBE
    I am an avid user of Youtube, where we can get helpful videos on any subject. It helps me
    understand a particular topic easily and gives me the option to watch online lectures as well.

7. MUSIC
    The internet provides me with the best way to relax and take my mind off the troubling thoughts.

8. SOCIAL NETWORKING SITES
    I am a frequent visitor on the following sites :-
            a. Facebook
            b. LinkedIn
            c. Twitter
